What to Expect from Your Pet Photography Experience

Whether you’re planning a portrait session for your senior dog, your chaos gremlin kitten, or your lifelong furry best friend, I can’t wait to help you capture what makes them special.

This blog post will walk you through what it’s like to work with me—from our first consultation call to the moment your custom artwork is hanging proudly in your home.

The 3-Part Happy Paws Experience

This isn’t just a photoshoot—it’s a relaxed, fully guided experience that results in beautiful images and custom artwork you’ll treasure for years.

1. The Consultation (Let’s Plan Something Meaningful)

The first step is a free consultation call where we’ll talk through everything:

  • Your pet’s personality, quirks, and any special needs

  • The kind of photos you’re drawn to (playful, soulful, classic, etc.)

  • Session location ideas based on your pet’s comfort and style

  • Ideal timing (we’ll aim for soft, beautiful light—sunset is a favorite!)

  • Any questions you have about products, pricing, or prep

This is a friendly, pressure-free chat to get to know each other and tailor the experience to your pet.

Fun fact: Before I launched Happy Paws Photography, I photographed over 2,000 shelter dogs. I also live with seven cats and a dog, so I have real-world experience with animals of all temperaments. Whether your pet is shy, sassy, stubborn, or a total ham—I’ve got you.

2. The Session (Relaxed, Pet-Led, and Full of Joy)

Your photo session lasts about 90 minutes, but we take our time and move at your pet’s pace.

We always begin slowly—with a gentle meet-and-greet and some playtime to help your pet feel comfortable. Once they’ve had a chance to settle, we start capturing a variety of scenes and expressions as we move through the location. There are plenty of breaks built in for sniffing, water, snacks, and belly rubs.

Whether your pet is high-energy or a little nervous, I create an environment where they can shine—and where you can just relax and enjoy the moment.

3. The Ordering Appointment (This is Where the Magic Happens)

After your session, I’ll professionally edit and curate the best images, then we’ll meet for a private gallery reveal—ideally in your home so we can view everything in context.

During this appointment, you’ll:

  • See and touch product samples

  • Get expert guidance on image selection

  • Visualize your artwork with mockups on your own walls

  • Design something that fits your space and style

Most clients invest between $2,500–$5,000 on their artwork, which often includes:

  • A statement piece in acrylic wall art (our signature product!)

  • Coordinating gallery wall sets

  • Custom-designed layflat album

More Than a Photoshoot—It’s a Celebration

This experience isn’t about getting a few quick snapshots. It’s about celebrating your pet in a way that feels meaningful and lasting. Every time you walk past your artwork, you’ll be reminded of the love and joy they bring to your life.

And by working with me, you’re giving back too—10% of profits go directly to local animal rescues. So your session helps pets in need find families of their own.

Whether your pet is a first-timer in front of the camera or a seasoned superstar, I’ll guide you through every step—from planning to delivery—with patience, expertise, and heart.
